Our Story

Growing up in South Africa and heading to New Zealand for some more adventure, I have always had a appreciation for the great outdoors.  With a love of animals and natural health and well being the original concept for Udderly Pure arose out of passion for combining these two loves together. 

I always had a fondness for goats but never had the opportunity to own some.  That all changed in 2013 when I traded my whole breeding group of Oprington chickens for my first 2 Saanen goats, Margo and Zonic.  I then rescued 5 more goats, that same year, from being culled which in itself was a whole different experience.  From the 5 rescues, I ended up keeping one old girl, Bella, who was pregnant at the time without me knowing it and Emily were born in June 2013.    I fell in love with the goats as soon as I got them and that love has only gotten stronger over the years. 

I initially set out to make cheese so I got the goats and then did my research and soon realised making cheese requires more than passion and a couple of goats!    

Having my dreams put on hold to become the worlds best cheese maker, I decided to learn about soap making for home purposes.  Leon, my son were born in 2011 and I have always preferred to use natural products on his skin. So making our own soap and lotion seemed the natural option for me, however, this soon turned into a business venture and for a few years I made goat milk soaps and lotions while based in Opotiki.  In 2015, I decided to close my business down and move back to Tauranga, Bay of Plenty.    For the large part of 2016, I focused on cheese making and learnt about techniques and what make a great cheese.  

After a well deserved rest and wanting more, I decided to get back to goat milk bath and body products and Udderly Pure came to fruition and launched in February 2017.   I love this business, the goats, products and everything that this business stand for.  I have been hard at work refining the art of creating the most luxurious, natural goat milk soaps. What is now presented is a rich, creamy product that is healing and divine for any skin. 

My other true love besides my goats and the goat milk skincare products, is my  “wing man” Leon, my darling son, who merrily joins me on the milking rounds and who loves to hang out with the goats in the paddock.  Our herd currently tallies up to 15 goats whom live in the beautiful, pristine fields of Whakamarama, Bay of Plenty.
